Top 5 Wednesday: Favourite Urban Fantasy

February 28, 2018

What is Top 5 Wednesday?

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Sam of Thoughts on Tomes on YouTube. Here is the link for the Goodreads group where you can find the list of topics and such.

This weeks topic is: Favourite Urban Fantasy Books

1. Marked by P.C. Cast

I absolutely love this series. I have done for years. It's typical vampire romance and I'm trash for it. In the House of Night series humans can be marked and put into a transition stage. The final stage either being you become a fully fledged vampire or you die. Those in transition are sent to specific schools, The House of Night schools. It's such a nostalgic series.

3. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

The Wolves of Mercy Falls series is fantastic. Again, it's typical 2000's werewolf romance and I love it. This series makes me think of such happy times. I remember curling up with a blanket devouring this series. Grace had always watched the wolves play in her back garden, one particular wolf always caught her attention. The one with the yellow eyes. Summer rolls around and working in a bookstore (I think, it's been a while) is a guy with the most peculiar yellow eyes.

3. Forsaken by Jana Oliver

I still have one to read in this series, well actually all of the books on this list...there are so many books! This series is what I think the Mortal Instruments might be like. Riley is a Demon Trapper, as her father was, she spends her life being called out to deal with all sorts of denizens of the dark. Some more dangerous than others. With the help of her incredibly handsome friend..

5. Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz

More vampires! I adored the Blue Bloods because of how much of a different take on vampires it is. But I'm hedging my bets that if I read this now I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. That's not because it's bad, tastes just change!

1. Glass House by Rachel Caine

I've gone on about this series so much on my blog. The Morganville Vampires series is a great example of an urban fantasy series done well. There's an awful lot of books to get your teeth into (pun intended). Morganville is a town run by vampires, a fact 60% of the population are aware of and once you move in you can't leave...
