Top 5 Wednesday: Books to Give Gryffindors as Gifts

What is Top 5 Wednesday?
Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Sam of Thoughts on Tomes on YouTube. Here is the link for the Goodreads group where you can find the list of topics and such.
This weeks topic is: Books to Give Gryffindors as Gifts
1. Wizards of Once by Cressida Cowell
A middle grade makings its way into one of my Top 5 Wednesday posts? This is almost unheard of! But yes. I think that the Wizards of Once would be an excellent choice for a Gryffindor of any age. It focuses a lot of bravery both in the face of danger and being able to stand up to those around you. The fact it also features witches is just a bonus.
Bit of a strange pick for a Gryffindor being that there's very little action left in the book. However, it's all about being brave enough to change an archaic view and take on responsibility. The titular character Sorrow is one of the bravest characters I've read about. I adore her, so much.
3. The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
Vasilisa is the definition of a Gryffindor. She sticks to what she believes in despite the awful surrounding she's stuck in. She protects those that cannot look after themselves, even if it puts herself in danger. And she grows with every book in this series.
I have a review for The Bear and the Nightingale here.
Are you sick of me talking about this book yet? Of course I'd pick this up for a fellow Gryffindor. Zelie is definitely a Gryffindor, she acts before she thinks but always with the best intentions. She takes on so much, even though she's scared. I adore this novel.
Well duh. This is such a perfect book for a Gryffindor. There are so many characters in this series in general that fit the description of a Gryffindor. But even the overarching plot is verrrrrry much in keeping. To fit against a huge corporation is to take on a David and Goliath style task. And its such an action packed series!
