Top 5 Wednesday: Books That Would Make Good Video Games

September 10, 2017

What is Top 5 Wednesday?

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Sam of Thoughts on Tomes on YouTube. Here is the link for the Goodreads group where you can find the list of topics and such.

This weeks topic is: Books That Would Make Good Video Games

3. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

I'd love a game based on Fangirl in a similar style to the Sims. I think it'd be so fun decorating Cath's dorm room and interacting with Levi and Reagan. Oh, and imagine if you were able to write a small amount of fan fiction in this and you got feedback from the characters in the game!

Please someone get on this!

You can find the Goodreads page here.

2. Rat Queens

Rat Queens is pretty much a group of kick-ass girls from different species drinking and fighting monsters and other people. Tell me that wouldn't make a great video game. I dare you.

The Goodreads page can be found here

3. I Hate Fairyland

If you haven't read this series yet then stop everything and pick it up. It's the film Orphan meets the Sugar Rush Kingdom from Wreck-it-Ralph and would make the best video game. The style of the art would translate so well into a game and the overall story would work so well in an action/adventure game.

You can find the Goodreads page here.

4. A Game of Thrones by George R R Martin

Game of Thrones would be an incredible RPG, similar to Skyrim with the quests that you could go on and places you could explore. Playing as Arya with Needle and when she's becoming one of the faceless people would be fantastic. I just hope they'd include the line 'stick em with the pointy end.'

5. Caraval by Stephanie Garber

When I was younger there used to be these books where you could kind of control the story. There would be a couple of different options that you could chose from and would direct you to a different section of the book and so on. A game along the same vein would be such a cool idea for Caraval considering how complex and upside down the book can get.

I have a review for this here.

What books do you think would make good video games?

Thank-you for reading,
