What is Top 5 Wednesday?

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Sam of Thoughts on Tomes on YouTube. Here is the link for the Goodreads group where you can find the list of topics and such.

This weeks topic is: Book List for Class on - Lesser Known YA Fantasy

1. State of Sorrow by Melinda Salisbury

I still can't believe that more people haven't read Melinda Salisbury's books. They're all phenomenal. However, I have to give a special shout out to State of Sorrow. This was so different to most of the YA I've read in the last few years. There is very little fighting but rather a massive amount of political manoeuvring. It's utterly phenomenal. I was shocked with how much I was enthralled with it considering that I have little to no interest in real world politics.

I have a full review here.

2. The Shadow Queen by C.J Redwine

This is just such an amazing retelling that no-one knows about! It's Snow White...with dragons. WITH DRAGONS. The story is fantastic, the characters you grow dangerously attached too and the heart of the original story is still there. It's absolutely fantastic.

2. Die for Me by Amy Plum

This remains one of my favourite series without question. It's set in Paris, one of, if not my favourite city and has possibly the most unique plot. Revenants. People that have already died that have reanimated and now have a compulsion to save those in life or death situations. Essentially, they die but always come back to life. It's just mind boggling but so so amazing. With a swoon worthy romance.

4. Half-Blood by Jennifer L Armentrout

I'm not entirely sure if this was simply because I was late to this series but GREEK MYTHOLOGICAL YA. Need I say more? I think not...

You can find the Goodreads page here.

5.Trial by Fire by Josephine Angelini

I always refer to this as the 'witches like you've never seen them' book. It's Wicca meets chemistry and is the most wonderful series. I loved this and still have yet to read the final book. I know, I know. The TBR is intense okay.
