Top 5 Wednesday: 2018 Reading Resolutions

January 12, 2018

What is Top 5 Wednesday?

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Sam of Thoughts on Tomes on YouTube. Here is the link for the Goodreads group where you can find the list of topics and such.

This weeks topic is: 2018 Reading Resolutions

Read More Classics

I started my literature degree last year so I've begun to read more Classics. Most notably Emma by Jane Austen (review here) and The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy (review here) however, there are so many more that I want to read...and that I've started collecting. By the end of 2018 I want to have read Withering Heights. That's my main goal.

Read The Books I Own

I no longer have room on my shelves but I keep buying books quicker than I can read them... In 2018 I want to read more than I acquire.

Be More Selective About The Books I Aquire

Following on from the read what I already have, is to be more selective with the books I do get. Because lately I haven't been...and this is the outcome...

Get On Top of Blogging

I'm still a little behind but I want 2018 to be the year I get ahead and create more content consistently. More than just reviews etc..

Read my ARCS/Proofs

Both through my job and blogging I'm very lucky to receive advance copies of books but with both uni and the ever growing TBR I struggle to keep up with the books that are coming in. I'm going to make a concerted effort to read the ARCS/Proofs I get sent within a few months.

What are your 2018 Reading Resolutions?

Thank-you for reading,

Good luck with your resolutions 🙂 They all sound totally doable to me! And I know what you mean about being more selective with books you get; I’m trying to do the same thing because I just don’t have the space (using the library again is helping me out with this too!)

      Thank-you lovely!
I work in a bookstore and every time something new arrives the book magpie in me can’t help it. I’m trying to curb the habit but we’ll see how that goes… I’m gonna have to try to think of a way to do this though!

Some very good resolutions (I love Wuthering Heights) I think limiting book TBR piles is almost impossible when you’re a bibliophile but I think we all share that goal in common! I’m aiming to improve my blog content, be more active with reader engagement & spreading the book love, and I’m reading books out of my usual genres this year

Some very good resolutions there yourself!
I attempted to read Wuthering Heights a long time ago but I struggled. I want to try again now. Very true!
      Best of luck with yours!

Great resolutions, Katie! I wish you the best of luck for all of these 🙂 I am trying to be more selective about the books I buy – I do that more and more and so far it has paid off, feeling less stressed about having to buy tons of books I am not sure I’m going to enjoy and just… keeping my book budget under control feels great haha 🙂

      Thank-you lovely.
      Please teach me your ways!
I’ve started to make lists and take pictures of the ones I like the look of. If then when I look back at this list I can’t remember what its about its probably not one I’ll love! Thus far it’s working (ish).
