What a phenomenal book. I've loved the Witchlands series for years and have read every book as soon as I could get my hands on it. I was gutted when I thought I wasn't going to be able to get a copy of Sightwitch. Fortunately, I managed. I'm so glad I did. It was everything I loved about the first two books in the Witchlands, friendship, world building, folklore and then there are the illustrations, the maps and the diagrams. There is so much packed into this short book that blows the whole world open.
It's set a year before the events of Truthwitch and is best read after Windwitch. It's marketed as a companion/novella but honestly, I think it's integral to the series. It enriches the reading experience as you pick up on so much more about the world and the characters that follow. I had a full-on moment where I was sat squealing "oh my god, Sooz did that. SOOZ. DID. THAT" It was amazing. It's one of those moments where you just go wow because someones brain came up with that.
I loved seeing Ryber's origin story. I'd love to see these for each character. Ryber was exactly what I thought she'd be and more besides. I'm so excited to dive into Bloodwitch and see what little easter eggs I pick up on now.
If you've read the Witchlands you must read Sightwitch and if you haven't read the Witchlands series well, what have you been doing with your time?
