I said I was going to give it another go and I'm glad I did. The September High Stakes Illumicrate box was so lovely. There were so many items I loved and nothing I didn't really like. The book as well. Oh, it's gorgeous. I think I'm going to try and keep on with this brand too....
Unfortunately, I already had a copy of this book but I'd much rather have this stunning edition. The sprayed snake on the edge looks phenomenal and the story sounds unreal.
**Taken from the blurb**
Born to a family of powerful Witchdoctors, Arrah years for magic of her own. But she fails at bone magic, fails to see the future, and fails to call upon the ancestors; with each passing year, her ambitious mother looks on her with ever-growing disapproval.
But there is one thing Arrah hasn't tried,
It is possible to trade years from your own life for a taste of power: a cheap trick with a heavy price - for you cannot know how much each ritual will take. This is something Arrah would never stoop to - until the city's children start to disappear.
When Arrah trades her years for magic to catch a child-snatcher, she uncovers secrets so shocking and terrible that her world is changed forever.
The Demon King, dormant and imprisoned for millennia, is stirring...and his return would bring Arrah's world to its knees.
Caught between gods and monsters, her ancestors and her future, Arrah's only hope is to sacrifice more and more of her years to save her family and her kingdom.
But her time is running out.
I squealed when I saw this in the box. Children of Blood and Bone is one of my favourite novels. I can't wait for the next one in the series! This ceramic travel mug is utterly gorgeous. I can't wait to use it. It was designed by Jess Taylor.
This is so pretty I'm scared to use it! This gorgeous list pad is themed around Good Omens. Both the book and the show are brilliant. Sam and I watched the entire thing over a few days. This was designed by Fable and Black.
I haven't yet read the Ember in the Ashes series but I can't wait to. I know I'm going to love them and then I'll understand the significance of the Blackcliff Academy. This wooden print was designed by Alicia Pinapali.
Then finally the guide and author letter for this month. I really like the paper the author letter is on. It's similar to the cover of the book.
So that was my September Illumicrate Unboxing!
