Platinum End Volume One

November 30, 2017

So, I loved this. I got distinct Death Note vibes from it but not in the plot just how dark it is.

Our main character Mirai is unhappy to the nth degree. He lives with his abusive aunt, uncle and cousins, is forced to do all the chores and lives in a storage company. When he's finally ready to give up fighting an angel appears offering him a chance at happiness. But it's not as simple as it sounds. Mirai is one of thirteen humans chosen as candidates to become the next god...but now someone is going round and killing off the competition.

Mirai is such an incredible character. He's flawed, complex and relatable. I can't wait to see how he develops in the next few volumes. His angel Nasse is also another of my favourites. She's both the devil and the angel on a persons shoulder. She imbued Mirai with angelic powers and told him to kill people with them! Not exactly the best idea...

In a lot of manga I find that the plot isn't cohesive, almost like there's multiple stories within a volume. This manga however, moved with fantastic pace and clarity.

I can't wait to read the rest of this series.
