Paper Girls is very similar to one of my favourite graphic novel series', Lumberjanes. However, add a helluva lot more violence and swearing and you get Paper Girls!
Set in a place called Stony Stream during 1988 four girls who work the same paper route are thrust into a bizarre situation (I'm still not sure what this situation is or how to explain it.) In the early hours of the morning on Halloween the girls run into a group of futuristic teenagers that are on the run from the 'old-timers.' Yes. It's this crazy. Which isn't surprising when you consider that Brian K. Vaughn, the creator of the sensational Saga series is on the team for this (he's also a favourite of mine.)
Although it was a little difficult to wrap my head around to begin with I still enjoyed it. And I loved how different each of the girls are. Mac is without question my favourite. She's incredibly tough and at times a little abrasive but throughout everything she cares about her friends first and foremost.
I can't wait to start the next volume.

October 7, 2017 at 9:37 pmThis book feels like it’ll be similar to Stranger Things as regards to the setting. I think that the 80s will be a very interesting time to read about, especially because of the clothes and pop culture references. I’m sure the artwork will be a special thing. I can’t wait to read this!

October 8, 2017 at 2:00 pmVery much so! I can’t wait for season 2 to start. I’ve been watching the trailer over and over. Now, I just have to wait for the next volume of Paper Girls. I’m steadily getting my friends into the series too!
