OWLs Wrap up

OWLs Wrap Up

When it came to fathoming out how to do the April's books read post I wasn't entirely sure what to do. It turns out I read an awful lot this past month. Possibly has something to do with the fact that we're on lockdown so silver linings and all that I guess. This will feature all the books I read for the OWLs because yes, I did read all of those on my TBR, yay me. Then I just carried on reading as normal once I'd finished those. I wasn't for adding any more challenges, mainly because I'd got my bullet journal all laid out already... Can't be messing with that now.

OWLs Wrap Up

This Read-a-thon was created by G (bookroast) and gets more and more impressive each year she hosts it. This particular round saw the addition of seminars and courses to the already existing careers and some new careers.

I picked Magizoologist for my career this year and as I managed to read everything on my TBR I achieved it. This means when the NEWTs roll around there are a few prompts I'll be able to pick from to create my TBR for that.

Fence Volume One

Fence Volume One

I adored Fence, I've ordered the next two volumes already. It was such an enjoyable read and a different one for me. I've never thought about reading about sport, though I do have the first volume of Haikyu!! to read eventually. This book fulfiled the Charms class.

Maid-Sama! Volume One & Two

Maid-Sama! Volume One & Two

Oh my god, I have a new favourite manga series. I have literally ordered every volume available. Maid-sama! follows Misaki Ayuzawa the current student body president of a former all-boys school and how she hides her part-time job at a maid cafe. It's so much fun, I fury read the first volume bind up and I'm still thinking about it now. Utterly addicting. This fulfilled the Herbology class.

An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson

An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson

Again, another book I loved! I had such a good OWLs season this year. I've had An Enchantment of Ravens on my TBR for a while and I'm so happy to have finally read it. I read it in one night, staying up until two in the morning. The relationship and comradeship between Rook and Isobel was wonderful to read. I'd happily read more about them but was very impressed with how contained the story was. It fit perfectly in one book and wrapped up very nicely. This fulfilled the Care of Magical Creatures class.

The Girl and the Dinosaur by Sarah Hughes

The Girl and the Dinosaur by Sarah Hughes

Such a sweet little picturebook. I have a collection of books I've read and want to keep for 'future use', we'll call it that so as not to give family or Sam a coronary. But yes, The Girl and the Dinosaur was a gorgeous picture book. The story was heartwarming and frankly anything with dinosaurs gets my vote. This fulfilled the Potions class.

OWLs Wrap Up

I'd finished my career and read everything so I was very glad I'd added a few extra challenges to my TBR in the form of the new seminars and training courses. This was an additional extra prompt or two to add more books to your TBR.

As well as these two I'd actually already read a book that qualified for the Merepeople Linguistics in Maid-Sama!!

The Near Witch by V.E. Schwab

The Near Witch by V.E. Schwab

This was one of V.E. Schwab's first books and has recently been re-released in this gorgeous edition. I thought that being such an early work from her career it wouldn't live up to her others. I was wrong. Whilst you can definitely see the improvements V has made in her craft The Near Witch was still a wonderful novel. It reminded me of some of my childhood favourite witch stories. For the nostalgia alone I adored this book but the story was wonderful as well.

This book counted towards the Legal Defence of Fantastic Beasts seminar, I had already completed the Care of Magical Creatures reading An Enchantment of Ravens.

Tess of the Road by Rachel Hartman

Tess of the Road by Rachel Hartman

I had a lot of feelings about this book, some good, some not so good... I do however intend to read the next books in this series and more books by Rachel Hartman in the future.

In reading this book I completed the Dragon Tamer Training as all you had to do was read a book with a dragon in.
