In An Absent Dream by Seanan McGuire

I'm finally up to date with this series again, well for now.

Unsurprisingly, I adored this book. It was so atmospheric and heartbreaking. In this book, we follow Lundy, one of the most prominent characters of the first book in the series and how she both found her door and lost her door. You know from the offset that there isn't going to be a happily ever after but I found myself hoping I was wrong anyway.

Lundy's door led to a Goblin Market where the currency is not money but fair value. The people of the market trade in goods and favours that each person must deem worth it. There are consequences if you don't give fair value to someone else. The rules, the characters, everything was so well thought out and deeply interesting. I wanted to know more about everyone, even the pie vendor.

The story was beautiful, heartbreaking and everything you'd expect from Seanan McGuire.
