It's rather strange for me to pick up a picture book considering I lack any tiny humans in my family. However, I'm taking an Introduction to Children's Literature class this year at University and we needed to read and bring in a picture book. I went for Franklin's Flying Bookshop because I love Jen Campbell. I watch her videos and plan to get my hands on her bookshop series too. I saw the illustrations of this book and thought the use of crayon-like strokes was so cute. It gave it a real childlike vibe. After that, the story itself is so sweet. Franklin scares all the people he speaks to simply because he's a dragon. All he wants to do is tell them about his favourite books. Then he meets a young girl who loves books just as much as him...and loves dragons.
It's a beautiful little story.
