I think I loved this one even more than Every Heart a Doorway. It was so dark and twisted, it reminded me of Frankenstein in that aspect. This book is set in a portal world called the Moors, it's full of monsters, death and destruction. A place you wouldn't think that two little children would thrive....you would be wrong.
Jack and Jill are phenomenal characters. Both so creepy but so wonderful. They were forced into certain roles but their parents and escaped to a place where they could be themselves...even if that meant they turned into rather evil, sometimes, little children.
Like the first book there was some wonderful representation in this book. Jack during her time in the moors struck up a relationship with a lovely character called Alexis. They're such a cute couple.
I'm always shocked by how much content Seanan manages to pack into such short books. I love how although they're a series each book could be read alone...but together the stories build upon each other creating such a clear picture of the world. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book.
