Bookish and the Beast* by Ashley Poston

Bookish and the Beast* is the third book of Ashley Poston's Once Upon a Con series and quite possibly my favourite. I love all the books in the series but this one I really felt connected to in ways I can't describe properly.

Once again we meet the characters from previous books briefly which I really enjoy. This book focused on Vance Reigns, the asshole of the previous books and a new character called Rosie Thorne. I struggled to begin with to enjoy the story simply because of the impression I already had of Vance but, his development in this book was so wonderful to read. I liked learning about his history and why he was so abbrasive and at times nasty to people. I found his relationship with Rosie such fun to read, I've always loved the enemies to lovers trope and this one was really fought for. I related to Rosie alot as she's a huge bookworm, has a small tightnit group of friends and isn't great in crowds. The unadulterated joy she felt at being able to reorganise that library, I felt it. I get it.

Every book in this series is like a warm hug. You know they're going to be sweet and that there will be a happy ending but it doesn't stop the worry from seeping in that the two people who obviously need to be together might be too dumb to realise it. Or overcome their issues in some cases.

Beauty and the Beast is my favourite fairy tale and Disney film. I loved picking out all the nods to the traditional tale in here. Whilst Vance wasn't outwardly a beast he certainly could be one internally.

I can't wait for the next book, if there is a next book. God I hope there's a next book!
