Blood & Honey by Shelby Mahurin

Blood & Honey by Shelby Mahurin

I loved Blood & Honey just as much as Serpent & Dove.

Lou and Reid's journeys continue to thrill me, both their personal one and the overall plot of the novel. They seem like a realistic couple, one who fights, struggles but ultimately they love each other enough to communicate and overcome things. Even after the first novel they still have personal hangups that they're trying to deal with, this book shows how difficult that can be. Especially, when you have another person to think about at the same time. Therefore the ending of this SHOOK me. I need the third one now.

There were so many new things that I loved. The proper introduction of the Blood Witches, all that lovely werewolf action. I'll never not love a book that has werewolves. The whole scene with Reid being hunted? Chills. Absolute chills.

I truly enjoyed how Lou flirted with magic beyond her capabilities. Not in the sense that she couldn't do it, but it's the kind of magic that has a cost above what you should be willing to pay. Even for those you love. She could so easily loose herself just as her mother did - which she knows but still risks it to save all the people she cares about. How quickly the hero could become the villan.

The biggest event in the book was undoubtedly the ending, which of course I can't mentioned because HELLA spoilers. The rest of the book was made of mirco problems that drove each character towards the end goal of this book which I enjoyed although I do understand the frustration others are feeling around this being stretched to a trilogy rather than a duology.

For me at this point I could read a full 500 page book on Lou and Reid making dinner and I'd be thrilled. I adore this series completely.
