8 Sci-Fi Books I Want To Read in 2018

As much as I love Sci-Fi I haven't read a great deal of it. I adore Star Wars, in fact I'm going watching Solo tomorrow and I can't wait! But I can't list more than ten Sci-Fi books that I've actually read. This year I'm tasking myself to read some of the Sci-Fi books I've had on my shelf for a little while.

Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

This kinda falls into the Classics category too, right? Either way the minute I saw the synopsis it reminded me slightly of Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine which I absolutely adored. In this world the main character has to burn books as they are considered the source of all unhappiness and are forbidden. But even then he still has unhappiness in his life. There is also a community that tracks down those who seek to save books. It sounds fantastic, if a little concerning.

3. The Diabolic by S J Kincaid

This I first saw on BookTube and have been wanting to read it for agesssss. For some reason I just haven't picked it up! Nemesis is a Diabolic, created with the sole purpose to protect galactic Senator's daughter, Sidonia. There's no one Nemesis wouldn't kill to keep her safe. But when the power-mad Emperor summons Sidonia to the galactic court as a hostage, there is only one way for Nemesis to protect Sidonia. Be must become her. How cool does that sound?

3. Illuminae by Amie Kauffman and Jay Kristoff

Yay me! I've already read this one! But I made these lists at the start of the year so. I adored Illuminae, it was everything I've heard about and more. I marathoned the first two books and then couldn't wait for Obsidio to come out. My god it was fantastic.

I have a review for Illuminae here.

I have a review for Gemina here.

I have a review for Obsidio* here.

Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes

I know this going to make me cry, so very much. Charlie is mentally disabled, his hopes of combatting this rest with a little mouse called Algernon. He has been experimented on and has developed an incredibly high IQ, which in turn happens to Charlie. To the extent where his IQ surpasses the level of the doctors that performed the procedure. However, Algernon's health begins to decline, does that mean Charlie's will as well?

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

I can't tell you what this is about in the slightest. I just know I want to read them!

Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Yet another series I know I'm going to love but for some reason have just not read. Cyborg fairytale retellings? Um yes please. I'm pretty sure each book in the series follows a different fairytale character but they somehow all link together. I'm excite.

Leviathan Wakes by James S A Corey

I saw Pierce Brown recommending this and of course I then had to pick up a copy. Alas I still haven't read this, what a shock. I get the feeling this is an epic space opera but I've heard that it isn't overly scientific, which makes me happy as I tend to get disconnected from books that delve to deep into that.  Humanity has colonised the solar system - Jim Holden is XO of an ice miner making runs from the rings of Saturn to the mining stations of the Belt. When he and his crew stumble upon a derelict ship, the Scopuli, they find themselves in possession of a secret they never wanted.

Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuval

Yet another book I'm not entirely sure what happens, so here's the synopsis. A girl named Rose is riding her new bike near her home in Deadwood, South Dakota, when she falls through the earth. She wakes up at the bottom of a square hole, its walls glowing with intricate carvings. But the firemen who come to save her peer down upon something even stranger: a little girl in the palm of a giant metal hand. I haven't heard a solitary bad thing about this series.

Those are the Sci-Fi Novels I want to read in 2018.

Do you want to read any of these?

Or are there some others?

Thank-you for reading,

Fahrenheit 451 is amazing! Ray Bradbury is a fantastic author in general, so you may want to check out some of his other books if you like this one 🙂 Happy reading!

You have some good ones on your list. I quite enjoyed Illuminae and The Diabolic but in both cases I haven’t picked up the sequels. I loved The Lunar Chronicles and Sleeping Giants was another great read.
